The UPR Foundation sponsors the Rio Piedras International Book Fair and strengthens the cultural projection of the University of Puerto Rico.
On October 10, 2025, the UPR Foundation, Inc. approved and formalized a $2,000.00 sponsorship for the Río Piedras Campus of the University of Puerto Rico to support the Río Piedras International Book Fair (FIL Río), as stated in the official letter of endorsement and donation. The event was held from November 3 to 8, 2025, at various locations in downtown Río Piedras, as a high-profile event aimed at promoting reading and the internationalization of Puerto Rican culture.
As part of the sponsorship, the UPR Foundation had a prominent exhibition space at the Fair, with high attendance, as well as official recognition of the sponsorship. This allowed the Foundation to showcase its role as a key tool for promoting donations and philanthropic support for the University of Puerto Rico among the participating public, invited authors, and publishing houses.
The Río Piedras International Book Fair (FIL RÍO) featured a wide range of participation from local and international writers, publishing house representatives, university faculty, and the general public. According to the event program and its dissemination on the institutional social media accounts of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) and the Río Piedras Campus, the Fair included presentations by prominent Puerto Rican authors, among them Mayra Santos-Febres, internationally recognized for her literary and essayistic work, and writer and cultural manager Carmen Dolores Trelles, along with other invited writers who enriched the literary and cultural exchange of the event.
The participation of these authors, as well as international visiting writers, positioned FIL RÍO as a high-level space for cultural dialogue and significantly contributed to the visibility of the UPR Foundation, Inc. within academic, cultural, and creative communities, reaffirming the Foundation's commitment to initiatives that promote education, culture, and access to knowledge.
